What Glamping in Lebanon Means to Us
A quick disclosure before anything else: we run Horizon Pines, a glamping and camping site in Kobayat (Qoubaiyat), Akkar, North Lebanon. This is our own view of what luxury camping in Lebanon can be, and we have kept it to things you can check for yourself when you arrive.
For a long time, luxury meant polished floors and a rooftop pool. For many of the people who stay with us, it now means something quieter: a private space, fresh air, a night without traffic noise, and time to do very little. That is what we mean by glamping in Lebanon. It is not a hotel in a tent. It is a comfortable place to sleep inside a real forest, with the forest left as it was.
Horizon Pines stands inside existing pine forest at about 1,100 metres, just below Mar Gerges Chwita. We built it without cutting trees, so the stays sit among the pines, linked by stone paths, stone terraces and outdoor seating. Lighting and phone charging run on 24-hour solar electricity. After dark the sky is properly dark, which makes stargazing good, and evenings tend to gather around the fire pits. Nights are cooler than on the coast, so bring a warm layer even in summer.

Glamping in Kobayat: Yurts and Lotus Belle Tents
Glamping in Kobayat at Horizon Pines comes in two forms, and they are different enough that it is worth being clear about each.
Lotus Belle tents. A Lotus Belle is a round canvas glamping tent, a real tent rather than a cabin, with a centre pole, one circular room and all-weather canvas. The interior is furnished in a boutique style with curated decor, and each tent has a private porch facing the pines. There are two tents, Venus (2 single beds) and Mars (3 single beds). An extra mattress is free on request, and we can set up a double bed for couples. Beds are made on arrival and bedding is provided; towels are not, so bring your own. Each tent has a private bathroom next door with a toilet, hot shower and sink, and Lotus Belle guests use the shared kitchen area. A tent sleeps 3 adults, or 4 when the fourth guest is a child under 10, and costs $60 per tent per night. It suits couples or a small family.
Premium yurts. Our yurts are round, 24 ft across, with insulated walls, six large windows for cross-ventilation, a ceiling fan, a central skylight and warm LED lighting along the roof beams. Inside there is a real double bed plus a sofa that converts to a second double, a private bathroom with a hot shower, and a kitchenette with a fridge, a kettle and a sink. Bed linen and towels are provided, and each yurt has its own outdoor seating on a private terrace. A yurt sleeps 4 adults, or up to 6 when two of the guests are children. It costs $120 per night for stays of 2 nights or more, and $150 for a single night.
Shared for everyone. Fire pits, BBQ stations, a shared kitchen area and a covered meal area. You bring and cook your own food; most guests shop before arriving. There is no Wi-Fi, but 4G coverage is good. The tap water is not drinkable, so bring drinking water.

A Chalet Alternative and an Eco Retreat in Lebanon
Many of our guests first went looking for a chalet, found us, and booked a yurt or a Lotus Belle instead. The yurt in particular covers most of what people want from a chalet: a private bathroom, a kitchenette, a double bed plus a sofa-bed, and a terrace, with the difference that it sits inside the pine forest. We are also building chalets. They are not open yet, and you can ask us on WhatsApp about opening.
To be honest about what a stay is like: we do not run an activity programme. The day is yours. The forest paths around the site are the easiest walking, there is a playground for children, and the evenings belong to the fire pits and the stars. Quiet pets are welcome in every stay, including inside the yurts and tents, with no pet fee; mention the pet when booking.

The practical details. We are open in spring, summer and autumn (roughly April to October), not in winter. Check-in is from 3:00 PM, with late arrivals possible until 10:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. One night is welcome. Book directly by WhatsApp or phone; a 50% deposit reserves the stay, and cancellations are accepted at least 7 days before arrival. We take cash, OMT, Whish, PayPal and Wise, and all rates are in US dollars.
